The long sleeved kimono in organic cotton is ideal for babies, from newborn through to 18-month olds. Made from luxurious Peruvian Pima organic cotton, the kimono is so soft and breathable. Perfect for babies' delicate skin. And a favourite of new parents.
The kimono is very practical, with its wrap-over front that makes changing your baby so much simpler. It doesn't need to be pulled over baby's head (they don't love this, and pretty annoying for parents). You'll thank us when you're on your 10th nappy change of the day!
The NINA kimono also has a second row of poppers on the bottom, so it fits baby for longer (they outgrow their wardrobes so quickly, so nice to know these kimonos will be around for longer).
Wear with NINA leggings and a cute cardigan over the top in the daytime...and under a NINA onesie in the cooler months. It's all about the layers! Very useful to help parents manage baby's temperature.
As new parents ourselves, we're always reaching for a kimono! A favourite in the NINA collection.
About our signature organic Peruvian Pima cotton
There are over 40 types of cotton grown worldwide - organic Peruvian Pima cotton is the best of the best (and rare!). It is revered globally for its long cotton fibres, which make for softer, stronger, and longer-lasting clothes.
Also hypoallergenic, lightweight, and breathable – important for babies’ delicate skin. Read more about the benefits of organic Peruvian Pima cotton here.
Our baby clothes are intentionally gender-neutral, kept stylish with sophisticated colours.
We want to make sure you choose the right size for your baby - please see the size guide (for the exact measurements) before you purchase. If you're buying as a gift, then rest assured if our kimonos don't fit the baby right now, they will do in the future (and nice for parents to know they've got a lovely item for baby to grow into!).
Size Guide
We recommend using the measurements below to choose the right size item for your baby. Our baby clothes come out a bit larger than other brands.
Sustainability
Our baby clothes are made from 100% Peruvian Pima cotton, grown in cotton fields on the coast of Peru, with the Pacific Ocean roaring nearby and pelicans flying above.
The clothes are made by Patricia and her brilliant team in Lima. We have visited the family-run factory several times and are proud to work with such a great partner who shares our goals for sustainability and ethics. Not only do they actively promote organic cotton but they provide free breakfasts for children in Peru's poorest province of Cajamarca.
All our baby clothes are 100% GOTS-certified organic cotton. You’re making a good choice choosing organic. It’s better for the environment since only natural processes are used to grow the cotton (e.g. ladybirds help to control pests rather than pesticides). No harmful chemicals (from pesticides or fertilizers) seep into waterways or degrade the soil. And less water is used compared to regular cotton (which makes up 99% of cotton clothes available on the high street).
The GOTS certification also covers social standards like decent working hours and no child labour (shockingly an issue in lots of cotton-growing areas around the world).
While baby clothes feel worlds away from cotton farmers’ fields, by choosing organic cotton you are helping to create a healthier environment for all those who make our products and for the planet.
