Designed by up-and-coming artists, NINA muslins are full of creativity, inspiration, and stories. They're works of art in muslin form! And limited edition too. Only 100 will ever be made in each design.
A parenting essential, ideal for swaddling, mopping up spills, breastfeeding, a little extra warmth in the buggy, or even acting as a sunshade. At 110cm x 110cm in size, they are extra large muslins meaning extra useful.
You’ll immediately notice how soft and light our muslin blankets are. They are made in India from 100% organic cotton, with dyes that are Oeko-Tex certified, so are safe for delicate, newborn skin.
Perfect as a unique gift for new parents. For an extra something special, order a gift box too and we'll wrap it really nicely with a handwritten note, ready to send to your friend/family/colleague/neighbour/anyone with great taste.
Machine wash low and tumble dry low (if you can hang the muslin blankets out to dry that's always best).
About the design
Designed by Sasha Compton
This design was originally a lino print based on the power of Astronomy and love. I made it whilst being engaged and unable to celebrate properly due to the corona restrictions last summer, it still puts a smile on my face whenever I see the artwork, so many happy memories poured in this artwork.
It took a few goes to get the composition and facial features just right which is nice to reflect on now. Some people look at it and see a moon and stars in hot pink and red, and others see a fiery sun radiating with love. I loved this design so much that I painted it onto a giant ceramic bowl for the world to see. It felt appropriate seeing the art in this format, with the sun / moon being held high into the sky.
I like that Astronomical Love resonates differently with others, evoking a range of emotions. It seems fitting for this design which represents love to be wrapped around a newborn baby.
Sustainability
Our large muslins are made from 100% GOTS-certified organic cotton by Chaitanya and his team in Northern India. All dyes are Oeko-Tex certified so have been tested to be safe and free from harmful chemicals.
By choosing organic cotton you’re making a good choice all round. It’s better for the environment since only natural processes are used to grow the cotton (e.g. ladybirds help to control pests rather than pesticides). No harmful chemicals (from pesticides or fertilizers) seep into waterways or degrade the soil. And less water is used compared to conventional cotton.
The GOTS certification also covers social standards like decent working hours and no child labour (which has shockingly been an issue in lots of cotton-growing areas around the world).
While a muslin blanket feels a world away from farmers’ fields, by choosing organic cotton you are helping to create a healthier environment for all those who make our products and for our future planet.
These muslins are extra large, you'll notice the difference!
