The artist behind the bestselling 'BEGIN' muslin in the NINA collection.
Natalia creates whimsical and nostalgic posters, with a mix of digital and handcrafted mediums, that give a real authentic feel. Her love for typography is pretty obvious and makes for such distinctive pieces - no doubt you've seen them out and about (Liberty, Trouva, Cissy Wears, to name a few stockists). Natalia is based in London and draws a lot of inspiration from her Polish heritage. See Natalia's work on her website here.
It's no secret that we love Natalia's work. We met back in the summer of 2019 when NINA was very much just beginning (we weren't even called NINA at that point). I was an avid listener of The High Low and noticed that Natalia was behind the podcast front cover. We loved her work on Instagram and the ethos of the brands she worked with. So we were very excited to work with her on our soon-to-be-called-NINA branding.
Inspired by the adventures of parenthood
Based on an original artwork Natalia created BEGIN as a print for The Motherhood Prints, a project we were running at NINA to celebrate new mothers and raise money for NHS Charities Together when covid first hit.
“The design for Begin was inspired by the unknown adventure that starts as soon as parenthood begins."
Thankfully, and due to popular demand (!), you can still purchase the BEGIN print at her website here.
Introducing the 'BEGIN' muslin
The BEGIN print was a favourite of The Motherhood Prints collection. We had so many admiring comments, people loved the meaning behind it, the striking blue colour, the whimsical lines, the Picasso-inspired bird.
It felt sad and premature to say goodbye to the print forever! So we included it, in an adapted form, in our first collection of artist-designed muslins.
We loved it immediately - a repeated print of that beautiful bird, framed by an irresistible blue border, coupled with Natalia's distinctive typography that says "begin, again and again" lining the bottom edge of the muslin.
“The hope and the uncertainty are symbolised in the flying bird and the blue colours used. I wanted it to feel both optimistic and a little unsteady, so decided to use free flowing lines and hand drawn type to create that feeling."

We've loved working with Natalia and so pleased she's part of NINA's first muslin collection.
